Katarina Gets The Chair

Background: Katarina made mistakes, people got hurt, some died. She’s been haunted by the lives she has taken. She will, however, go through a couple of steps to prepare herself for execution.

The Cell
Katarina is in a waiting cell in a prison jumpsuit, sitting calmly awaiting news of her final appeal. The guard enters carrying a change of clothes.  A few large towels, a sponge, a bucket of warm water, shaving cream and a razor. He tells her that her appeal has been denied. She mush turn in her prison uniform and prepare for execution. She didn’t expect a pardon, she has had time to mentally prepare herself to face execution.

Katarina stripping naked: “So, how’s it going to happen, hanging, gas, lethal injection?”
Guard: You’re going to the electric chair.
Katarina, momentarily stunned but she puts on a brave face. “Well I always hated needles….that takes a good contact on my leg, right?”
Guard: Yes it does, take a couple of minutes to prepare yourself, then we will start the procedure. Would you like to talk to a priest?
Katarina: He’s already heard my confession.

He collects the jumpsuit and leaves.
Katarina starts by shaving her legs (she’s just trying to make sure they get a good contact point so it will be quicker). Then she uses the sponge and bucket of water to give herself a bath. Afterwards she dries herself off and gets dressed. Once she is dressed she calls for the guard and tells him that she’s ready.

The Chair
Katarina takes her place on the chair, eyes closed facing straight ahead, using yoga deep breathing to keep calm as she is strapped in. She doesn’t react until she feels her leg being wired up.
He finishes strapping her in and grabs the Ipad to read her sentence.

Guard: you have been found guilty and convicted of willful negligence causing the death of 4 innocent people as well as injuries to several others. You were tried in front of a court of your peers in accordance with state and federal laws. Your last appeal has been denied and you are sentenced to death by electric chair. Do you have any final words?
Katarina – mournful but loud enough to be heard to the witnesses: “I never wanted to hurt anybody, if I could undo it I would, I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you.”
She softly tells the guard she is ready. She is gaged, blindfolded and her head is wired the guard steps aside.

Moments later she jerks as the execution starts, once it stops she is panicked struggling to get out of the chair The second jolt slams into her causing her to pop out of her top, she shimmies in the chair, and is panting for air when it stops The third jolt hits her, after she lets out a miserable groan.
Jolt four completes her sentence
